Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs)

There are a range of implantable cardiac devices that are used for a number of purposes. These range from devices to detect abnormal arrhythmias to the treatment of bradyarrhythmias (slow heart rhythms) or tachyarrhythmias (fast heart rhythms). The technology underpinning these devices and the techniques used to implant them are constantly involving. This has resulted in a variety of options to treat patients.

In general terms, these devices include implantable loop recorders, pacemakers, cardiac resynchronisation devices and defibrillators.
