About Dr Ojas Mehta
MBBS BMedSci MS FRACP (Cardiology)
Dr Ojas Mehta is an experienced Cardiologist who has sub-specialised further in the field of Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology. With extensive clinical training locally and overseas in Canada, he brings with him novel approaches & procedural techniques to treat cardiac rhythm disorders.
He implants a range of CIEDs (Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices) and regularly performs conduction system pacing. He offers cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT), and implants leadless and subcutaneous devices in addition to conventional loop recorders, pacemakers or defibrillators.
Ojas performs Electrophysiology studies and catheter ablation, treating complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. He also performs venous alcohol ablation, a novel technique in order to treat challenging cases of atrial fibrillation and premature ventricular complexes.
He provides evidence-based care that matters to your personal situation. He sees a Doctor-Patient relationship as a partnership to empower patients and steer them into their best version of health.
Ojas actively engages in an advisory manner to consultancy firms and medical device companies. He has a keen interest in analytics and the intersection between data and clinical decision making.
Education & Training
Dr. Ojas Mehta graduated in Medicine from the University of Melbourne (M.B.B.S). He undertook physician training and further specialisation in Cardiology at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Monash Medical Centre, attaining his Cardiology fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). During his training, he undertook regional work at Bendigo and Frankston hospitals.
After completing his Cardiology fellowship, he undertook a further subspecialisation in the management of cardiac rhythm disorders, a field known as Cardiac Electrophysiology. He trained locally at Alfred and Monash hospitals and overseas for advanced training at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in British Columbia, Canada.
Amidst his medical career, he has gained experience as a management consultant at a leading international firm and also as an advisor to consulting firms and medical device companies. He holds a Master of Science in Analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), with a subspecialisation in Computational Analytics. This allows him to adopt a unique approach and understanding of the role of Artificial Intelligence in clinical management. His advisory roles often find him at the intersection of Healthcare, Artificial Intelligence and Management.
He continues to be an active memeber of the global research community and over the years has presented and published his work on an international setting at well-reknown international journals, textbooks and conferences.
Cardiology Clinical Consultations
Ojas sees patients at various locations within inner and outer Melbourne. Although he specialises in cardiac rhythm disorders, he is happy to see patients with general cardiac issues. Whilst face to face visits are always preferable, this can pose logistical challenges for patients that live further away. He is happy to perform telehealth consultations in these circumstances.
Hospital practice
Dr Ojas Mehta looks after his patients and performs procedures at most major private hospitals such as Epworth Richmond and Epworth Eastern (Boxhill) hospitals, St Vincent's private hospital (Fitzroy), Cabrini hospital, Knox private hospital and the Jessie MacPherson private hospital within the Victorian Heart Hospital (Clayton).
For his public patients, he performs procedures at Frankston hospital and the Victorian Heart Hospital.
